Public Board Dinner – Shareholder Activism Through the Lens of a Former Activist
Monday, September 10, 2018
Location: Il Fornaio
520 Cowper Street
(at the Garden Court Hotel)
Palo Alto, CA 94301
Are you a current public company board member, have served as a public company director in the past and are actively seeking a new position, or a board member of a company anticipating an IPO and wish to be part of this event?
Shareholder activism has become a prominent and permanent part of the corporate landscape. As activism continues to evolve and mature, so are the strategies deployed by activists to gather support amongst the broad range of investor constituencies – actively managed funds, passively managed index and quantitative funds, and proxy advisory firms. Derek will speak from the perspectives of his roles as a partner at an activist hedge fund, event-driven hedge fund and investor-focused activism defense advisory firms about current trends in shareholder activism, the rise of ESG issues, what this means for Silicon Valley companies, and how public company directors should be thinking about these issues.
Please join us at our next Public Board Circle dinner to hear what our expert has to say.

He also established a coalition of film and television content creators, ACE (Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment), which includes the MPAA studios, Netflix, Amazon and others, to cooperate on the common issue of protecting intellectual property. He stepped down from the MPAA on January 1, 2018.
