What do you consider your and/or your company’s biggest strength during COVID-19?
As an accounting firm, we spend a significant amount of time at our clients’ locations. We now have several of our staff and partners on remote working arrangements which I feel is our biggest strength during this time. We saw no disruption in our operations and efficiencies (other than trying to work from home with a 1, 3, 5 and 9 year old…..).

Do you have a mentor?
I work closely with Jim Chapman on the ACGSV Start-Up Challenge program. Jim has been working with ACGSV for over 15 years. Not only has he been extremely successful as a top attorney in the Valley, he is a true professional in every sense. He understands how to build a business and a network and how to leverage that network. He also leads the ACGSV C-Circle. He has a passion for business and the outdoors and it is contagious. I have learned a lot from Jim.

What is the best advice you have ever been given?
“No other success can compensate for failure in the home.” As a busy accountant that often finds myself working long hours, my office is full of pictures of my 4 children and I try hard every day to make sure that no matter how crazy my work life is, the absolute most important thing I can accomplish is quality time at home with my wife and kids.

What will be the first place you visit/thing you do once the shelter-in-place is lifted?
My family loves to travel. We had to cancel an RV trip from Indiana to Anchorage Alaska in May due to the virus. As a result, I booked an Alaska fishing trip in July and a trip to Banff, Canada in August with the family. My wife thinks that I have an Alaska addiction as I have to get up there at least once a year. However, I don’t call it an addiction. I call it a heart condition and that, if I don’t make it there in a given year, my heart will stop working! My kids love to fish, go on dog sled rides, see all the animals and enjoy the great outdoors!

What excites you most about ACGSV? How do I get the most out of my sponsorship?
I absolutely love the people that I work with through ACGSV. The people are incredible and the
content we provide through our circles, Start-Up Challenge, and Keynotes is second to none. I love that I can attend events, bring clients to events and we can leave feeling like we learned something new about the hottest topics in the Valley. I get the most out of my sponsorship by attending all events possible, inviting clients and prospective clients to the events and trying to be the best resource and team player for other
sponsors and members of ACGSV.
